Welcome New LCM Families

It is our pleasure to welcome you to the La Costa Meadows Community. La Costa Meadows (LCM) is a great place for students to learn and grow. At LCM we work in a partnership between staff and community to provide the highest quality education. It is our goal to engage the whole child and create life-long learners.

Vision Statement

La Costa Meadows is a collaborative community working together to provide a safe and positive, academically enriched learning environment so that all students are actively engaged in the process of becoming life-long learners.

At La Costa Meadows we value an inclusive learning environment, continued learning for all (students, staff and families), and character development. Our school serves over nine hundred students, and our students come from diverse backgrounds and have diverse needs. We celebrate this diversity, and our staff is trained to meet the needs of a wide-range of learners. All of our teachers have been trained in the San Marcos Unified School District's Essential Elements of Instruction. We value professional development and our staff participates in regular district and site based trainings. We welcome parents into our learning by hosting parent nights, and regular "coffee chats" with the principal and assistant principal. Our character education program is based on The 7 Habits of Happy Kids. We teach our students about "Being Proactive", "Thinking Win-Win", "Synergizing" and the other habits because we know these are life-long skills with real benefits for our students.

There are many ways to get involved and help our students succeed. Volunteers can be seen all over La Costa Meadows. Each teacher organizes volunteers and delegates differently, and there is no doubt that direct parent participation enriches our students' educational experience. We have a strong Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). The LCM PTO supports many of our enrichment programs. The funds raised by our PTO provide students with art supplies, a music instructor, a science garden teacher, classroom technology, and so much more. The Parent Teacher Organization meets monthly and plans both fundraising and community building events. Some of the traditional activities include our famous Halloween Carnival, movie nights on the blacktop, and our spring Picnic in the Park. Please consider attending an LCM PTO meeting to learn more and get involved.

Welcome to La Costa Meadows. We look forward to meeting you and learning together.
