Mandy Bedard, Principal

Dear LCM Families,

I am honored to be the proud principal of La Costa Meadows!  During my time here at LCM, my favorite thing has been building partnerships with our students, staff, and parents as we work together to support students in achieving and growing academically, socially, and emotionally each and every day!

I have had the honor of being an elementary site leader for almost six years and I have been the proud principal at La Costa Meadows since the 2019-2020 school year.  Prior to becoming a site administrator, I was a classroom teacher for ten years.  During my time as a teacher I had the honor of teaching multiple grade levels from kindergarten through fifth grade.  It was as a classroom teacher that my drive to impact the learning of students beyond the four walls of my classroom began to grow.  As a result, I began to take on numerous leadership roles at the site and district level that ultimately impacted student learning in a positive way.  As a teacher leader, I was a member of my previous district’s Response to Instruction and Intervention Task Force, the Elementary Time Task Force, the Class Size Study Group, a member of the District Stakeholder Team, and a member of the Willow Grove Elementary opening Leadership Team.  When I became a school site leader, I was asked to join the San Diego County Office of Education’s Advisory Committee for their administrative credential programs.  Each of these opportunities supported my growth as a leader and further ignited my desire to become an instructional leader supporting the growth and success of every student.

On a more personal note, I’ve lived in San Diego my entire life and am in love with our city where a short drive can take you to the beach, mountains, or desert!  I have been married to my husband, Rick, for 12 years and I am the proud mom of two children, a son and a daughter.  My son is a seventh grader this year and my daughter is a proud LCM fifth grader.  When I am not at work, our family can be found camping, spending time with extended family and friends, in the cheerleading gym, or out on the lacrosse field and basketball court.

As we navigate the 2021-2022 school year, I am excited to continue collaborating with our community as we further strengthen our inclusive and academically rich learning environment where the strengths of our students are celebrated and a love of learning is fostered today, tomorrow, and beyond!
With Dolphin Pride,
Mrs. Bedard

Dear LCM Families,
I am beyond honored to be the Assistant Principal at La Costa Meadows Elementary. I wake up each and every day excited to come to work, as LCM is a very special place to be. I have been in SMUSD since 2000, working as a teacher, administrator, and at the district level. In addition to my Assistant Principal role at LCM, I am the lead facilitator in our district's Essential Elements of Instruction (EEI) Cadre for new teachers and as a co-facilitator for our district's Elementary Curriculum Council (ECC).

On a personal note, I was born and raised in San Marcos and I am proud to say that I'm a product of San Marcos Unified School District! My husband, Chris, and I even attended San Marcos Middle School and San Marcos High School together. Chris is a retired US Marshal. I have three sons and a step daughter. Keegan is attending SDSU while working with the National Guard. Kody loves fitness and is plans to be a personal trainer. Kooper is a senior at San Marcos High School and is about to film his first acting project. My step daughter, Promise, is also a senior and will be playing D1 lacrosse for Wagner College in New York this fall.

I am thrilled to be a part of the LCM family, building relationships with the staff, students, parents, and community. I am looking forward to another fantastic year!
