Mandy Bedard, Principal

Dear LCM Families,

I am honored to be the proud principal of La Costa Meadows!  During my time here at LCM, my favorite thing has been building partnerships with our students, staff, and parents as we work together to support students in achieving and growing academically, socially, and emotionally each and every day!

I have had the honor of being an elementary site leader for almost six years and I have been the proud principal at La Costa Meadows since the 2019-2020 school year.  Prior to becoming a site administrator, I was a classroom teacher for ten years.  During my time as a teacher I had the honor of teaching multiple grade levels from kindergarten through fifth grade.  It was as a classroom teacher that my drive to impact the learning of students beyond the four walls of my classroom began to grow.  As a result, I began to take on numerous leadership roles at the site and district level that ultimately impacted student learning in a positive way.  As a teacher leader, I was a member of my previous district’s Response to Instruction and Intervention Task Force, the Elementary Time Task Force, the Class Size Study Group, a member of the District Stakeholder Team, and a member of the Willow Grove Elementary opening Leadership Team.  When I became a school site leader, I was asked to join the San Diego County Office of Education’s Advisory Committee for their administrative credential programs.  Each of these opportunities supported my growth as a leader and further ignited my desire to become an instructional leader supporting the growth and success of every student.

On a more personal note, I’ve lived in San Diego my entire life and am in love with our city where a short drive can take you to the beach, mountains, or desert!  I have been married to my husband, Rick, for 13 years and I am the proud mom of two children, a son and a daughter.  My son is a eighth grader this year and my daughter is a sixth grader.  When I am not at work, our family can be found camping, spending time with extended family and friends, in the cheerleading gym, or out on the lacrosse field and basketball court.

As we navigate the 2022-2023 school year, I am excited to continue collaborating with our community as we further strengthen our inclusive and academically rich learning environment where the strengths of our students are celebrated and a love of learning is fostered today, tomorrow, and beyond!
With Dolphin Pride,
Mrs. Bedard

Traci Barnhill, Assistant Principal

Dear La Costa Meadows Families,

I am thrilled and honored to be serving as Assistant Principal at La Costa Meadows Elementary. I was fortunate to start my career in SMUSD as an instructional aide all while getting my teaching credential.  Once I received my teaching credential, I began  working as a teacher for eleven years.  Last year was my first year at LCM as one of our intervention teachers. It was during this time I was able to build rapport with our wonderful students and amazing staff! I am so excited to start this year as our AP.

Personally, I love sharing that I was raised in San Marcos and am a proud product of  San Marcos Unified School District, as is my husband, Bill.  We have three adult children and one darling granddaughter. Brigette and her family reside in Oceanside, she works in property management. My son Brody is also in real estate and Bryler, our youngest son works for Viasat and is in the United States Coast Guard. Our granddaughter already is the center of our universe!

I am so excited to continue building relationships with our staff, students, and

families in our community. I love being a part of the LCM family. I can’t wait to

start our new school year!
