This Week's Dolphin Blast

This Week's Dolphin Blast

4.17.19

Please read on for news and updates for our school this week.

Hello LCM Families,

We hope you are having a great week.  Below you will find some opportunities for community building, updates on school procedures and learning opportunities provided through the San Marcos Unified School District.

Fundraiser to support a former LCM family:

Over spring break a former LCM family was involved in a devastating automobile accident which resulted in the passing of their son, Bryce.  Bryce was an eighth grader at San Elijo Middle School. There will be community fundraiser to support the family during this difficult time tomorrow (4/18) at Chick-fil-a in San Marcos from 6 to 8 pm.

Social Media Safety Night:

Maybe you missed our Digital Safety event in February with Jon Moffat, or maybe you want to keep learning… you have another chance.  Our neighbor, Carrillo Elementary School is hosting a Social Media Safety Night with Jon Moffat on Tuesday April 23rd at 6 pm and you are invited.  See the attached flyer for more details.

Student Item Drop Off:

In an effort to minimize classroom disruptions, we have a new procedure for dropping off items which need to get to your student during the school day (forgotten lunches, backpacks, etc)

There is now a student pick-up table in the front office where you can leave items. You will need to label the item with your student's first name, last name, and teacher, and fill out a slip for our staff. Office staff will make calls to classrooms prior to their recess times or lunch times, whichever comes first. Thank you, parents, for your help in this matter as we work to reduce classroom interruptions.

TK and Kindergarten Registration Packets:

Attention all 2019-2020 TK and Kindergarten Parents.  Registration for TK and Kindergarten is now open. Stop in the office to pick up a registration packets.

Clothing Donations:

The health office is in need of extra clothing in smaller sizes for both boys and girls (primarily for grades K-3), for students who come in needing a change of clothes. Specific needs are: new underwear and socks and gently used pants, shorts and t-shirts. Please contact Stacy Pollard(stacy.pollard@smusd.org) if you would like to contribute. Thank you so much!

Attendance:

Parents, we need your help in our efforts to make every minute count. We understand that sometimes appointments must be scheduled within the school day, but ask that care is taken to avoid conflicts with the school day to the greatest extent possible. Please also be aware of our continued policy that there will be no student check out during the last 20 minutes of the school day, please plan accordingly.

Students who have zero unexcused tardies, unexcused absences and no early pick ups from school will be entered into a drawing each month. For more details, please refer to our attendance policy listed on our website by clicking here or here. We thank you so much, families, for your support and cooperation in this important area!

Thank you for your continued support,

Adam Klimas
