Dear SMUSD Community,
We have appreciated welcoming our students, parents, and members of Team SMUSD back to school, albeit remotely. A profound THANK YOU is in order to each and every one of our SMUSD community members for supporting our students--thank you to our teachers, instructional assistants, administrators and many more team members on one end of the screen and a thank you to our parents, guardians, and students on the other end. As a parent in our school district, I am fortunate to have a front row seat to witness our collective herculean effort to ensure our students’ instruction continues. Now that our first two weeks of short days are sunsetting, please know that our schedules beginning the week of August 31st through the duration of remote instruction are attached.
San Diego County has been removed off the COVID 19 monitoring list and must now maintain a case rate under 100 COVID 19 cases per 100,000 for 14 consecutive days to pave the way for a return to our physical campuses. For our district’s return to in-person instruction, our Governing Board will hold a Special Board Meeting on September 4th at 10 am. During this meeting, they will review in-person instructional models in advance of their vote scheduled for the September 15th Board meeting.
Lastly, on August 18th, we presented to our Governing Board our District’s Learning Continuity and Attendance Draft Plan (LCP) which details our ongoing efforts to address the academic and social/emotional needs of our students in the remote instruction environment and beyond. To review the LCP and to provide feedback on the draft plan, please visit:

Thank you,
