Classroom Management

Behavior Management

Individual Positive Incentives:

Classroom Economy - Whole Brain teaching is incorporated into all aspects of instruction. The program believes that students should receive positive verbal praise for making smart choices, working hard, and showing leadership qualities. With this premise, when students are recognized, they have the opportunity to earn class money. For every verbal praise (from myself or other staff members) students will receive a point on their tens frame chart and after a student earns 10 Super Improver points they will get to earn classroom money in order to spend on a desk pet (3D animal/food eraser). Students will also earn classroom money by completing their assigned class job for a week. This will help students build confidence in leading through different ways in the classroom. With this, a student experiences pride; therefore learning, smart choices leads to the feeling of internal worth.

Negative Consequences:

If a student is not following directions/rules, a verbal warning will be given. If the student continues to not follow directions a private conversation between the student and the teacher will take place. If the undesired behavior continues an email home will be sent.

Class Incentives:

In our class, we have a Giant Kerplunk game that will be used as a whole group incentive. When the class is on task, participating, or have received kudos from other Richland teachers (Library, P.E., and Music), they will get the opportunity to have a stick pulled from the game in hopes to get the Kerplunk balls to drop. When all of them have dropped, the class will randomly pick a reward that they have decided on together.
