Welcome to Second Grade

Welcome to Second Grade

                                                                                                                       August 2018

Dear Parents,

I would love to take this time to welcome you and your child to our second grade community! I am excited to be learning side by side with the kids on this new adventure. It is important to share some basic information to help start the school year.

Since the morning is long, it is strongly recommended that your child bring a HEALTHY SNACK to eat during morning recess (no candy or soda allowed). Please send in a labeled water bottle to be used during P.E. and throughout the day. For easy identification, please write your child's initials on the cap of the water bottle.

Student lunches can be purchased in advance on-line in a weekly or monthly ticket. Remind your child to purchase their weekly or monthly ticket before school or on-line at the cafeteria. If your child brings lunch, please make sure paper sacks and/or lunch boxes are clearly labeled with your child’s name.

The numbers of coats, jackets, and sweaters that end up in the school’s Lost & Found each year is staggering! Please label your child’s clothing with a permanent marker – the easiest way is to write on the label. The Lost & Found cabinet is located in the cafeteria.

Due to our budget, our classroom supplies are very limited. I greatly appreciate any donations to the classroom that we receive. Each child is encouraged to bring in their own pair of headphones to be used with classroom devices throughout the year. This is the one item that needs to be labeled with your child's name and will not be shared. Please label both the item and the storage baggie.

If you would like to make a donation, please check out Mrs. Krupsaw's Wish List or consider donating a gift card. The Wish List also contains a list of books that are needed as part of our reading program.

I will be giving a complete supply list in your students' back to school night packet. Until then, feel free to visit the classroom webpage for starter list.

Some basic items always needed:

  • Baby wipes (used to clean desks and hands)
  • Gift cards to Amazon, Costco, Target, or Michaels

My goal every year is to use less paper. With the drastic budget cuts and trying to be more “green”, I will continue to rely on our class website to inform parents of upcoming events and assignments. We also use Remind, which will be explained at Back to School Night.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone at Back to School Night. All first through third grade parents meet on Wednesday, August 22nd at 5:30 PM in the cafeteria.Mr. Klimas, our principal, will meet briefly with the parents. Please plan to attend as important information will be presented. From 6:00-7:00 PM, the parents will meet with their individual classroom teacher in their child’s classroom(room B-10). Please plan to come – you’ll get important information about your second grader’s curriculum. Also, remember that this is a meeting for teachers and parents only (no students or siblings).

I am looking forward to meeting you soon.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Krupsaw
