Meet Ms. Gutierrez

My Story

I've always known that I wanted to be a teacher. I feel like most everyone says this, but it's true! I remember being in first grade and absolutely falling in love with my teacher. Whatever she wore, I would try to copy and wear the next day. Whatever she would ask, I would do with no questions asked. I grew to love Mrs. MacPherson as if she were an actual member of my very own family. What drew me most to her was her ability to love beyond conditions. Mrs. MacPherson had a way of making every single student in the class feel like they were something spectacularly special. Class was never boring as she would find new and creative ways to engage us with the lessons. I literally remember itching to go back to school when the weekends came. School was not a place I had to be, but a place I wanted to be. One day, Mrs. MacPherson partnered me up with a student who had a hard time grasping a lesson that had been gone over a few times in class. I sat with my new partner and we worked together on a new problem over and over again. I explained it. I explained it again. I explained it a different way. And then, I explained it one more time. "I get it! I get it!" my partner yelled. These three words- these short three words lit up my world like nothing else. There is something so rewarding and so beautiful about being on the road of someone else's journey to success that it literally makes you want to jump up and do the "happy dance." From that day on, I knew that I needed to be a teacher. With that being said, I am absolutely thrilled to be your child's first grade teacher this year! We will have a blast growing our hearts and minds! Here's to following your dreams!

About Ms. Gutierrez

I was born and raised in Oceanside, CA. I am the oldest of four girls (sorry, Dad) and am a proud owner of the cutest miniature schnauzer. Being a total family girl, I decided to stay close and attend California State University San Marcos. There, I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with a Depth of Study in Arts in Education. After a few years of teaching, I decided to extend my learning by pursuing and obtaining a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education. This excites me because I want to be an example to my students that we are all life-long learners!

When I am not in the classroom, you'll find me at Oh Juice, Anthropologie, SeaWorld, Disneyland, or the farmer's market. I love walking around the city, swimming, being around animals, riding bikes, spoiling my nephew, and watching movies with lots of blankets!

Meeting Klondike, the beluga whale!
