About Mrs. Smith

Smith Family

Hi everyone! This is my 16th tear teaching and I love it! I LOVE my Dolphin family! This is my second year teaching a 4/5 combo after teaching 4th grade for six years here at LCM and 6th grade for eight years at Woodland Park Middle School and up in Oxnard. I couldn't be more excited or eager to experience this journey with you! I grew up just south of here in Solana Beach and always knew I'd end up somewhere in San Diego county. I graduated from Torrey Pines H.S. and moved to Santa Barbara to attend U.C.S.B. (Go Gauchos!). I studied Psychology with an emphasis on cognition and then attended the University of LaVerne where I received my teaching credential and Masters in Education. I married my wonderful husband, Austin, in 2005, and we have three children: Austin (AJ) is a seventh grader at Double Peak School, Nathan is 10 and in 4th grade, and little Charlotte is turning 5 and will be starting TK at LCM this year!

As anyone who knows me could tell you, I am very passionate about teaching and really enjoy spending my days introducing new concepts to eager minds. I constantly seek out ways to make the content accessible to young minds and find a variety of ways to make it "real", relevant, and meaningful.

When I'm not in the classroom (yes, I have a life!), I enjoy spending time with family, playing soccer, running, traveling, camping, relaxing in Big Bear, reading, and any activity that involves learning.

I believe in a strong partnership between parents and myself, so please email or call me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

I look forward to our journey together this year and hope this school year will be fun, memorable, and tremendously successful!
