Mr. Ball and The La Costa Meadows Music Program

Dear La Costa Meadows Students and Parents,

My name is Keith K Ball, and I am thrilled to be teaching music at La Costa Meadows. As an educator, songwriter and musician, I am passionate about teaching and sharing music. My goal is to nurture that same passion for music in each of your children within a safe, supportive, and fun learning environment. I love working with children and have raised two of my own, Trevor and Tiandra (now in high school and college), with my beautiful wife Nicole (now married for 24 years). When I am not teaching or working with music I enjoy tending to our garden and animals (horses, goats, chickens, Nibbles the pig, and cats and dogs).

It is an absolute joy to work with your children and teach them music. We have a very exciting year planned...this year, we will be offering free choir after school and several music programs through FitKids as we continue to expand our music program.

All music taught in class complies with the California Common Core Music Standards and VAPA Music Standards (listed below). During music class your children will be participating in activities and learning about the following:

1.0 Artistic Perception: They will read, notate, listen to, analyze, and describe music,

2.0 Creative Expression: They get to sing, play Instruments, and create and share music,

3.0 Historical and Cultural Context: They learn historical and cultural dimensions of music,

4.0 Aesthetic Valuing: They derive meaning from works of music, rhythm, timbre, and how music interacts with humans,

5.0 Connections, Relationships, and Applications: They will apply music comprehension across subject areas and discover what music means to them.

Please feel free to visit me or contact me if you have any questions about our program. I am looking forward to a wonderful, fun and exciting year at La Costa Meadows.

Sincerely,

Keith K Ball
