From Our Dolphin Blast November 7, 2018

Hello LCM Families,

Welcome to November!  Thank you for all your support throughout the busy month of October.  Thank you for volunteering during our successful Halloween Carnival and Wigs for Kids events.  We are also thankful for your attendance at school events like the Parenting Night series with author Christine Fonseca, our PTO meeting, and our ELAC meeting.  We are grateful for the continued support of our community as we work together towards success for all our Dolphins.

USA Day / Veterans Day Assembly / Friday Flag Salute:

One of our school traditions is to honor our local veterans each year with a short assembly on the last school day before the Veterans Day holiday.  This year we also have a Flag Salute scheduled for that day.  We would like to invite any veterans or active service members to join us as we sing our National Anthem together before our Flag Salute on Friday.

This Friday is also a Spirit Day at LCM.  The student council has selected the theme of “USA Day” in recognition of the upcoming Veterans Day holiday.  All students are encouraged to wear Red, White and Blue or Camouflage.

Monday Holiday:

There will be no school on Monday, November 12th in recognition of Veterans Day.

4th Grade Family Picnic Lunch November 16th:

Fourth Grade Parents, mark your calendars and pack your lunches for Friday, November 16th! You are are invited to dine with your 4th grade student during their lunch period from 12:25-12:55. 1. Please bring your own lunch

2. Plan to check in at the PTO table in front of the school by 12:05 pm

3. Remember that no siblings may be pulled out of class as this is a special activity for you and your fifth grader

4.Students will return to class after lunch, please do not check your student out of school early as we want to make Every Minute Count.

We thank you and we look forward to a very special Family Lunch together!

Parenting Nights at LCM:

Last week was our final event of the year with Christine Fonseca, but our series of parenting nights will continue in February.  Our next presenter will be John Moffat, a digital safety consultant, and the topic of his presentation is Bridging the Digital Knowledge Gap Between Parents and Their Children.  This presentation is designed to raise awareness of the constant changes facing our youth.  Mr. Moffat translates pre-teen/teen to adult and the other way around. His simple tips can help you and your family use technology to make real connections.  Mark your calendars and plan to join us on February 28th.

Attention Dads:

Many of you have volunteered on campus as an extra set of eyes and ears to help keep our students safe, and to help us promote a welcoming environment for all students.  We continue to have opportunities for you to volunteer during recess, lunch recess or even to help with student drop-off before school. If you are interested in learning more about volunteering one time, or becoming a regular volunteer for recess, lunch recess, or student drop-off please email our community liaison, Stacy Pollard.

Lexia at home:

Lexia is a great tool used in the classroom to build literacy skills.  All our Dolphins are familiar with the program, but you might not know Lexia is also available at home.  Use these directions to log on to Lexia at home…(you can get to Lexia from the homepage of our school website)

If this is the first time you logged in then you may have to enter your teacher's email

This year the Username is your child's graduation year, first initial, last name, and last 5 digits of their ID number

It’s thanks to everyone who contributes to the PTO WAVE fund! But to ensure the PTO can continue to support all of our little Dolphins, we need YOU! Please visit the PTO Website to make your WAVE fund donations. All donations must be made online this year, as we have officially gone paperless. There are lots of great incentives to donate! Thank you for your generosity!

While you're on the PTO website, please take a moment today to make sure your child's name and teacher's name are up-to-date on our new PTO website so we can deliver your future purchases to the correct classroom.
